Gujarat: Farmers of scarcity-hit places to get input assistance

The Gujarat government has announced to pay input assistance to farmers of scarcity-hit places in three different slabs. The aid will be provided as per the rainfall received in the affected areas during the monsoon. The government has initiated the process in the areas after the due formalities.

The government resolution passed by the agriculture, farmers welfare and co-operation department was issued on November 29 to initiate the process of payments to farmers through the concerned district panchayats. The farmers can claim the assistance within the limit of 2 hectare under their possession. The farmers of 14 talukas, where the rainfall received so far were 250 to 300 mm, will get Rs 6,300 per hectare. Whereas the assistance would remain Rs 5,800 for 12 tehsils where the rainfall of season recorded at 301 to 350 mm and farmers of 19 talukas where rainfall was recorded at 351 to 400 mm will get the assistance of Rs 5,300 per hectare.

The farmers shall have to apply to concerned taluka development officer (TDO) and the same proposals will be forwarded to district development officers(DDO). The amount of input assistance will be deposited in favour of DDOs which DDOs will forward to TDOs for disbursement among farmers.
