Gujarat: Facebook friend rapes 34-year-old woman

A 34-year-old woman, mother of two, was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man who she became friends with on the social media. The accused even took nude pictures of the victim to blackmail her. The accused has been arrested.

A complaint of rape was lodged with Anandnagar police on Sunday.

The complaint was lodged by the victim, a resident of Vastrapur. The victim told police that she became friends with the accused, Sanjay Khara, a resident of Jamkhambhaliya of Dwarka, on Facebook around six months ago.

Anandnagar police said that after befriending the victim, the accused began messaging her daily.

Around a couple of days ago, Sanjay made a plan to visit Ahmedabad to meet her. He also called the woman to a hotel in Paldi where he allegedly raped her and clicked nude pictures of her. The victim threatened to lodge a complaint when she came to know about the photos.
