Tired of the apathy shown by civic officials, councillor of Danilimda ward, Shehzadkhan Pathan, poured dirty water on an AMC officer’s office. According to the angry councillor, the officers were not paying any heed to grievances faced by the people in his ward.

The additional city engineer, HT Mehta’s office was filled with water from sewers which was brought there by the councillor and residents of the Danilimda ward. People rushed with bottles of stinking water and poured it on the tables and floor of the engineer’s office. Chairs and other furniture was also damaged.

“It’s been more than a year that people of Nawab ni Chali and Jeetu Bhagat ni School pockets have been complaining about drinking water which was contaminated by drainage water. The water is coloured and stinks. The officer had also inspected the site after I complained but no solution to the problem was provided,” said the councillor.

“The officer had said that it will take two to three months to get the drainage line changed. Even after two to three months, there was no solution. People are being harassed due to this grievance. Can you imagine what it feels like getting polluted water for a whole year and officers always giving another date to fix it,” added Pathan.

More than five thousand people have been affected by drainage issues.
