He also said that Rajiv Gandhi had laid the foundation for ushering in the computer and telecommunication age in the country during his term as prime minister. Leader of opposition Paresh Dhanani said that the Rajiv Gandhi government had contributed tremendously to women empowerment by introducing the provision for 33% reservation for women in panchayati raj institutions.
