As many as 1,23,860 students sat for examinations in a total of 139 centres and sub-centres. Of these, 89,060 students qualified for pass certificates.
The overall pass percentage for Class 12 (Science), under the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board (GSHSEB), showed a marginal decline this year at 71.90 per cent from last year's 72.99 per cent.
Rajkot faired the best among districts at a pass percentage of 84.47 per cent, while Chhota Udepur recorded the lowest at 29.81 per cent. In ranked the lowest in 2018 as well at 35.64 per cent. Dohad district also ranked low.
Apart from Rajkot, Ahmedabad rural, Botad, Morbi, Mehsana and Bhavnagar districts soared above the 80 per cent pass percentage. At 95, Surat had the distinction of the highest number of students scoring Grade A. More students from Gujarati medium schools nailed a Grade A (183) as opposed to only 67 from English medium.

English medium schools recorded the highest pass percentage at 75.13 per cent, followed by Urdu medium (71.43 per cent), Gujarati medium (71.09 per cent), Hindi medium (65.13 per cent)and Marathi medium (58.57 per cent).
While the overall percent has declined only marginally, some other numbers dropped as well. When 42 schools recorded 100 per cent result in the previous year, this year, the number stood at 35. The number of schools with less than 10 per cent result nearly doubled to 49 this year from last year's 26.
