Gujarat: Builder accused of duping trust of Rs 74 lakh

The managing trustee of a charitable trust that runs the Tulip International School has in a complaint filed with the Bopal police station accusing two builders of cheating them of Rs 74 lakh.

Yogesh Shridhar, in his complaint stated that in April 2016, the trust decided to buy 11 flats in a scheme 'Gopinath Pride' under Sanket Co-operative Housing Ltd. The scheme was being carried out by Vipul Patel and Mithalal Dave.

The trust paid Rs 50 lakh as advance to buy the houses as residential quarters for its employees. Later they also paid the remaining Rs 14 lakh. Shridhar in his complaint said that six months ago, the builder came and got their photograph and signature for the allotment papers but did not give them the said documents. The complaint states that after six months the trust got to know that someone else was living in the flat for which the trust had paid. When Sreedhar's son went to the builder to clarify on the matter he not only threatened to kill him but also said that he would commit suicide and name him as an accused.

The trust then investigated and found that of the 11 flats allotted to the trust, one had been sold to a couple from Thakkarbapanagar. It was then that the trust realised that they have been cheated.
