Gujarat: 25 slums gutted in Isanpur fire

A major fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in the slums located in the Isanpur area of the city. In the incident, 25 houses were completely destroyed but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The incident took place at around 1:50pm on Thursday in the Millat Nagar slums in Isanpur area.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) department were informed about the matter and fire teams were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. When the fire teams reached the spot, the fire had already spread to more than 20 houses located in the slums. Locals were trying to douse the fire with water.

The fire officials called for more help from the control room after the fire started spreading to other houses. A total of 13 fire fighting vehicles reached the spot with a team of around 50 firemen including senior fire officers. Regarding the matter, the Isanpur police were also informed, who reached the spot to control the crowd which had gathered around the spot. After four hours of continuous operations, the fire teams were able to bring the fire under control.

According to fire officials, reason behind the fire has still not been discovered, but they suspect that it might have happened due to naked flames in one of the houses, from which, the fire spread to surrounding houses.
