Parents of Udgam school who admitted their children in 2018-19 by paying a whopping admission fee have a reason to rejoice. The Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) has ordered the school authorities to refund the admission fee. And not just the fee, the committee also slashed its fees for nursery by Rs 70,000 against what the school had proposed.

The school had proposed to charge Rs 1,51,538 for the nursery, but the FRC has approved only Rs 80,844. For Junior KG, the FRC has approved Rs 82,577 as against 1,24,135 as proposed. At the same time, the FRC has agreed for the fees as charged by the school for 2017-18.

"It seems they have gone through all the documents we submitted and it is heartening to see that they went in detail and considered everything. However, we still face the loss of admission fees and the fees for 2018-19 does not match increasing expenses. We are happy with the fees decided for 2017-18 but at the same time, will struggle to make our ends meet for 2018-19. At least the order is such that the school will not have to shut down," Manan Choksi, Managing Director, Udgam School for Children said.

The school charges Rs 2 lakhs as admission fee.
