It's time to be alert! Besides the mercury soaring, the nuclear radiation in Ahmedabad is also rising. Online Telemedicine Research Institute (OTRI), a private research institute, claimed on Thursday that the radiation level (nuclear) in the city has crossed 10 count per minute (CPM) level, which is safe for humans.

Rajesh Shah, a senior scientist with OTRI, said the four sensors they have installed in the city constantly monitor the radiation levels.

"On an average, the radiation level oscillates between 10 and 30 CPM. CPM gives you an average of alpha, beta and gamma radiation," said Shah.

He, however, clarified that this was nothing unusual for cities like those like New York and Tokyo, which registered high levels of the radiation. "Even in India, Mumbai and Delhi, record high levels of radiation has been observed," said Shah.

Explaining the reason, Shah said: "One reason could be cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy, that gives out the radiation in small quantity," claimed Shah.
