Ex-wife accuses man of torturing daughter

On Monday, a 24-year-old woman approached Navrangpura police and lodged a complaint against her former husband for allegedly beating up their daughter and trying to abduct her. The woman has also sought police action against her ex-husband’s present wife.

In her complaint, Indu Chandel said she married one Harish Chandel in 2006 and a daughter was born to them in due course of time. In the complaint, she says, the two of them separated after Indu filed a case of domestic violence against Chandel and that she returned to her parent’s house in Vasana with her six-year-old daughter Krisha afterwards.

According to Indu, Chandel had come to a fair at Rameshwar Mahadev in Navrangpura, which she too was visiting with Krisha, her mother Mira and sister Rohini. Indu claims that Chandel had come with his sister Kavita, his current wife Sunita and his in-laws, all of whom allegedly snatched Krisha away and locked her up in their car.

When Indu tried to save her, Chandel’s kin started beating her up in front of the public.    

Indu’s sister and mother tried to intervene, but they too were thrashed by Kavita and Sunita. Some locals saved Indu and her family members, after which she reached for her daughter and brought her out from the car.
