Dr Madhusudan Dhanki, fondly known as Dhanki Saheb in Ahmedabad, was felicitated on Saturday. Dhanki, an architectural and art historian, was given Ranjitram gold medal, considered the highest literary award in Gujarati literature, at the function at Gujarat Vishwakosh Hall in Usmanpura.

His book, Tamra Shashan, was also released on the occasion. The function was attended by well-known personalities in literary circles including Kumarpal Desai, Prafull Rawal, Hemant Dae,

Manubhai Shah and Dr Dhanki's wife Geetaben Dhanki. Dhanki, also a recipient of Padmabhushan award, said, "I had told the authorities at Gujarati Sahitya Sabha that I don't deserve this award. I am not a literary person. I don't write like sahityakars".

Dhanki has a degree in geology. He started his career at the Central bank. Dr Pradeep Mehandiratta from American Institute of Indian Studies, who had specially come to attend the function, said that his institute is in the process of making all of Dr Dhanki's work available online within six months.
