Schoolgirls from across the state sent rakhis to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday as a gesture of protection and well-being.

More than 700 girls from Navyug Group of Education at Morbi had sent the sacred thread signifying the bond between a brother and a sister, ‘rakhi’ to PM Modi. In addition to this, the girls also wished him good health and long life. Along with the self-made rakhis, the girls have also sent handwritten letters or postcards to the Prime Minister.

“In wake of strong decisions taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi one after the other, the students requested me to send a rakhi to Modiji, whishing for his long life so that he can continue to take such decisions even further,” said College President, Kanjiya Pidi. “My chest swelled with pride after hearing this and I was very happy with the decision,” added Pidi.

“By deciding  scrap Article 370 and 35-A. Modi has fulfilled Sardar Patel’s dream of united India. Therefore, on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, we have sent a rakhi to Modiji,” said Nandini Patel, a student of the college. “He has crowned India by including Kashmir,” added Nandini.

This has come after the historic decision taken by the PM Modi led present BJP government to abrogate article 370 and 35A from the Constitution of India.
