BRTS bus mows down woman at Maninagar

A complaint was lodged with the Traffic J division police station on Saturday after an elderly woman died in a road accident in Maninagar area.

The incident took place near Maninagar old crossing at around 3 pm. The police are yet to identify the victim.

As per police officials, the victim was hit by a BRTS while she was crossing the road. She died on the spot after sustaining serious head injuries.

After the incident took place the Bus driver didn't stop and managed to flee from the spot.

A case on the same was lodged against the bus driver with the J division police station.

The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed at the complex located near Mansarovar hotel. On the basis of CCTV footage, the cops were able to identify the BRTS bus through its registration number and have also identified the driver.

On Sunday morning, the accused identified as Dharmendra Barot,36, was arrested by Traffic J division police.

Since the cops could not identify the victim, her photo has been circulated in social media and 48 police stations across the city so that she can be identified and her relatives can be contacted.
