BJP, Congress declare names for bypolls in Gujarat
Turncoat Alpesh Thakor to fight from Radhanpur, says he regrets contesting 2017 polls on a Congress ticket
Congress turncoats Alpesh Thakor and Dhavalsinh Zala were among those given tickets by the ruling BJP to contest the bypolls from the Radhanpur and Bayad seats respectively.The saffron party has named all the candidates for the six seats that goes to polls on October 21. Jivraj Patel and Ajmal Thakor will be contesting on the party's ticket from Tharad and Kheralu while Jadish Patel and Jignesh Sevak are candidates from Amraiwadi and Lunawada.Within minutes of the candidates been declared, a buzz began after BJP's Jagdish Panchal posted a two liner in Hindi on social media. Both Panchal and Patel have been rivals within the party. Later in the day, Panchal deleted the post after it began to emerge that the post could have been in reaction to Patel being given a ticket.Patel, who is from the Anandiben camp in BJP, was also the Ahmedabad city president for the party.Later talking to the media, Patel said that several candidates had sought the tickets but only one can be given but it doesn't mean others were not worthy. "I will work for the development of the people. Amraiwadi constituency is already a developed one and will concentrate on further work that needs to be done," said Patel. He also expressed confidence that his party would not only win the seat but also win it with a bigger margin than earlier.
