Owing to the safety of the college students nearly 15 colleges in the city were forced to shut down. The members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) visited each college that was working on Monday and was made to shut down.

Confirming the same, Narayan Bharwad, member, NSUI said, "We did not want any students to be harmed or injured due to the protests. Hence, we went to colleges like HK college, GLS, university, Bhawans college, Aroma, CU Shah, Somlalit, etc and requested them to shut. In many colleges, only administrative staff were working. We also got them shut. But we did not disturb those where exams were going on."

Schools too remained open and no students or staff were affected but school buses, while returning after dropping off children, were affected by stone pelting.

Anisha Shaikh, Principal, FD high school for girls in Jamalpur said, "We could not shut the school as an examination of class 9 and 11 students were going on. But, the Bandh did not affect our area and our students could safely reach home."
