To mark 25 years of its parent organisation, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal plans to absorb about 50,000 youngsters into its fold within the next one year. “We plan to enrol 50,000 youngsters, who will increase VHP’s presence to 12,000 villages in Gujarat from the present 8,000 (villages),” said Haresh Chauhan, president of Bajrang Dal Gujarat, on Friday.

In first step towards the endeavour, Bajrang Dal will organise ‘Trishul Diksha’ for 11,000 youngsters in Surendranagar in October. The saffron outfit has so far provided ‘Yuva Shaurya Prashikshan’ to more than one lakh youngsters and ‘Trishul Diksha’ to three lakh others.

Chauhan, meanwhile, also took a dig at political parties appeasing the minorities.
“There is a race in the country (among political parties) to claim that Muslims are safe and prospering in their respective states. It’s also a truth. It’s only Hindus who are suffering in the country,” said Chauhan. He also brought up issues of temples being demolished, cow slaughter and police atrocity on VHP workers.

When quizzed about supporting Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 LS polls, Chauhan said their organisation will support the leader who is ready to work for “100 crore Hindus of the country”. “Our agenda will be set by saints and leaders,” said Chauhan.
