Ahmedabad University to consider SAT scores for UG courses
Move to be implemented from next academic year
In an attempt to give better access to quality education and international exposure to students, Ahmedabad University will start accepting Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores for its undergraduate programmes from the next academic year.
The university is a founding member of the India Global Higher Education Alliance. "Our attempt is to make SAT more accessible for students in India," said Bibek Banerjee, Senior Dean, Strategic Planning and Initiatives at AU. "Lots of talented students can't access scholarships and programmes offered by top universities. We are trying to change that."
The announcement was made by the College Board, a US-based non-profit organisation, during the 'India Global Higher Education Alliance' symposium in Delhi. They also announced the College Board India Scholars Program, wherein meritorious students from low-income groups would be able to take SATs at a reduced cost and obtain full scholarships to member universities.
