Six people have allegedly duped two banks of Rs 2 crore by mortgaging a government land. A complaint of cheating was lodged with the Sardarnagar police on Wednesday. The accused had used fake documents to bluff the banks.
The complaint was lodged by Nisha Dagla, a maintenance surveyor with the City Survey Office in Sardarnagar. Dagla said an application was sent to the Ahmedabad Collector about a government land that was occupied by one of the accused, identified as Ambala Bhil. During investigation, Dagla came to know that the six accused — including Vidhiya Panjwani, Kavita Rajkumar, Pradeep Narumal, Seela Soneja and Mohandas Kishnani — took a loan of Rs 2Cr from Dena Bank and BOI by mortgaging the government land in 2013. A probe revealed that the accused produced fake documents.
