Ahmedabad's speed demon sped away from hospital too

After killing a cyclist near Gujarat University on Sunday, Harley-Davidson rider does a vanishing trick from VS Hospital on Monday, injury notwithstanding.

The person riding the cycle was declared brought dead by doctors on being brought to the hospital, his brother who was pillion riding the cycle, fractured his leg. The latter filed a complaint with Gujarat University police station on Monday.

Manoj Yadav, 20, who lived in Ambawadi worked as a peon in Cept University and belonged to UP’s Isauli village in Sultanpur district.

Two weeks ago, he called his younger brother, Vinod, to Ahmedabad as he had fixed him a job in the city. On Sunday evening, the two brothers were cycling towards Ambawadi from Cept. While Vinod was riding the cycle, Manoj was sitting behind.  

When they reached Gujarat University crossroads near the passport office, a speeding Harley Davidson bike rammed into their cycle. Such was the impact of the accident that the brothers were severely hurt with the cycle almost mangled beyond repairs and its front wheel dislocated.

The accident also injured the bike rider and pillion rider too. The four were rushed to VS Hospital where doctors declared Vinod dead due to critical injuries on the head.

After his brother’s death, Manoj, who suffered a leg fracture, lodged a complaint with Gujarat University police. The cops recovered the bike having registration number GJ1 PA 3885.

However, the bike rider along with his friend reportedly escaped from the hospital without informing anyone. Cops are still clueless about their names or addresses. “On Sunday night, both of them left from VS and got themselves admitted to a private hospital. If they don’t appear before us, we will find them using the registration number of the bike,” said VM Shelar, senior police inspector, Gujarat University police station.
