The transport manager of Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) on Friday announced the draft bud-get for the next fiscal which is Rs 481.98 crore. This year, AMTS is planning to run 700 buses daily, of which 100 buses will be of AMTS while the remaining will be of contractors. Transport manager Rakesh Shankar said that for the next fiscal, the AMTS would wbe focusing on infrastructure development.

"Some of the stations are very old, which would be revamped. The bus shelters will be renovated as 'Smart Bus Stop Pole' – where there would be facilities such as solar-operated lights, Wi-Fi, charging points and places for advertisements," said Shankar. He further said that the main terminals will have solar panels to generate electricity and that in the near future, more AMTS buses will ply.
