Citizens will witness sunshine on sustained basis as weather department has predicted sunny sky in the city for the week.

This is a welcome change after the cloudy and gloomy weather the city has been witnessing almost on daily basis since August.

No major deviation in mercury is predicted either, with minimum temperature not falling below 23 degree Celsius and maximum temperature not rising above 35 degree Celsius.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a forecast on Sunday that the city recorded a maximum temperature of 33 degree Celsius, which is three degrees below normal, while minimum temperature was normal at 23.7 degree Celsius.

The sky would be mainly clear. with areas of Hatkeshwar, Khokhra, Amraiwadi, Vastral, Bapunagar, Naroda, Rakhiyal, Jashodanagar, Odhav and Vatva received rains with thundershowers.

According to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) data , the city received 5.83 mm rains between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm on Sunday, raising the seasonal rains to 862.93 mm.

Most of the rain was recorded between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The rains played spoil sport for garba enthusiasts as many grounds were reportedly waterlogged.

According to a data of State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), 44 talukas witnessed rains between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm. Bharuch taluka recorded 40 mm rain followed by Ankleshwar (34 mm), Bagasra (26 mm), Palitana (18 mm) and Vanthali (18 mm). There were reports of garba grounds being waterlogged in Bharuch city as well.

The state has, till Sunday morning, received 1,154.12 mm rains, which is 41.44 per cent higher than the 30-year average of 816 mm rains. Of the 251 talukas, 118 have received over 1,000 mm rains, 126 have received 501-1,000 mm rains and seven have received 251-500 mm rains.
