A day after 40 CRPF men were martyred, prayer meets, candle light marches, protests held to mark tragedy

Traders' bodies have appealed to traders from all walks of life to shut their shops on Saturday, as a mark of solidarity with the victims of terror attack in Pulwama on Thursday. Bodies like Amdavad Vepari Mahajan (AVM) and Gujarat Traders Federation (GTF) have appealed to all the associations of traders, not to open their shops. However, in a novel appeal AVM has also said that traders can alternatively close their shops for half of day and conduct business for the rest of the day but donate the day's profit to the victims of the terror attack.
As a mark of solidarity with the armed forces and to the family members of the martyrs, shops in Maskati Market, New Cloth Market, Shree Panchkuva Kapad Mahajan, Shree Ghantakarna Market Association, Sumel Market 1-2-3, Sindhi Market Association, Gheekanta Readymade Garment Association, Astodia Rangati Mahajan and other business association should strongly condemn this attack. In order to offer our tributes to the jawans, all the above mentioned associations have declared a bandh on Saturday. "Moreover, a candle march has been organized at 4:00 pm in New Cloth Market. We appeal people from all walks of life to join us in the show of patriotism," said Bhagat.
More than 30,000 school students from city will wear black ribbon on Monday. As per a notification issued by the Association of Progressive Schools (AoPS), nearly 40 schools have been asked to communicate to their students to wear black ribbon while coming to school on Monday.
Reports of bandh by traders are also doing rounds in state. Champalal Bhothara, general secretary of FOSTTA said all textile shops in of Surat will be closed on Saturday as homage.
