Ahmedabad: Man stabs sister, who eloped, 11 times

A complaint was lodged with the Odhav police station on Thursday after a man stabbed his sister for going against the family's wishes and eloping with her lover. The victim is being treated at a hospital right now.

The complaint was lodged by Rajendrakumar Chaudhari (32), a resident of the area and native of Rajasthan. He stated that around a year and a half back, he had been staying in Rajasthan. During the time, he'd fallen in love with Ranjukuwar (24). However, as her family didn't approve of their relationship, they had eloped and moved to Ahmedabad, where they got married. They initially lived in the Satellite area and around four months back, had shifted to an apartment in Odhav. They had a son six months ago, after which, Ranju contacted her family and they started talking. Everything seemed to have become normal between the families and they even accepted the couple.

On December 17, Ranju's brother Bajrang Rajput called up Chaudhari and told him that he was going to be in Ahmedabad for some work and would be staying at their house. On December 18, Rajput arrived in Ahmedabad and put up at the couple's home.

On the morning of December 20, at around 10:30am, Chaudhari left for work, while his wife, son and wife's brother were at home. At around 1:30pm, Chaudhari received a call from his neighbours who said that his brother-in-law had stabbed his wife and fled the spot. The neighbours had called the 108 emergency services as Ranju was bleeding heavily and she was rushed to the Shardaben hospital for treatment.

When Chaudhari reached the hospital, Ranju had gained consciousness. She told him that her brother stabbed her with a kitchen knife several times and kept saying, "Why did you marry him?"

Currently, Ranju is admitted in the ICU ward of the hospital. According to the police, she was stabbed 11 times by her brother in the neck, stomach and chest. Odhav police has lodged a case against the accused under IPC 307 and 135(1) right now and further investigation is on.

Inspector RG Jadeja of Odhav police station said, "We have taken the complaint and have started an investigation in the matter. Teams have been sent to Rajasthan to the accused's native place to get more details about him. Apart from that, the technical team is trying to track down his location."
