The deceased has been identified as Suman Chavda
A complaint of abatement of suicide was lodged with the Gomtipur Police Station on Monday after a 22-year-old girl committed suicide after being mentally and physically harassed by her in-laws. The deceased has been identified as Suman Chavda.
The complaint was lodged by the victim's mother identified as Hiraben Zala, 45, a resident of Gomtipur area. The complaint read that in the year 2012, Suman married Suresh Chavda, a resident of Sanand. After the arranged marriage, Suman started living at her in-law's. The couple has a four-year-old daughter.
Around six months ago, Suresh told Suman to leave the house following some a dispute between Suman and her mother-in-law. According to Hiraben's allegations, Suman was mentally and physically harassed by her husband and in-laws. When she tried to resist, they threw her from the house and didn't allow to take her daughter. After the incident, Suman started staying at her mother's house in Gomtipur.
On the afternoon of December 9, Suman was alone at the house when she locked herself inside the room and hanged herself to the fan. The incident came to light when Suman's mother came home from work and found Suman dead.
