Ahmedabad: Asleep 17-year-old girl gagged and raped, accused absconding

A 17-year-old migrant labour girl was raped several times while in sleep by a man in Narol area of the city. A complaint has been registered regarding the same with the Narol police station.

According to police officials, the incident took place on August 8, at around 2-3 am at her uncle's house in Narol.

Adding further officials said, the accused identified as Bhursingh Devda got inside her house, covered her mouth with a cloth and raped her.

The victim is a native of Rajasthan, who has been in the city since last one month in search of a job.

RA Jadav, Inspector of Narol police said, "The accused is a co-worker of the victim as labour at a construction site and belong to the same village from Rajasthan. The accused knew about the victim's residence, took advantage while she was alseep."

Jadav further added a case has been lodged against Devda on Saturday under IPC 376 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) post the victim explained the ordeal to her uncle, who was sleeping in the same house during the incident.

The accused is absconding and search for him is underway, Senior Inspector said.
