Within five days of resuming work, the paramedical staff of LG Hospital went on strike again on Wednesday. They were protesting against deferred payment of salary. Around 70 nurses held protests against the hospital authority over delayed and incomplete salary payment issues.

"There is no uniformity in the salary payment to nurses. Though we were promised a salary of Rs 15,000 per month, we are getting half of it. When we raised this question, the officials refused to listen to us," said one of protesting staff of LG Hospital.

Amul Bhatt, chairman, standing committee, AMC, had refused to take up the matter with the civic body saying the nurses were hired by contractors. "We can not interfere in the matter. They have been hired by private contractors. We don't know what their terms and conditions are. We are making sure that the service to patients do not get affected," said Bhatt.
