Ahmedabad: 67 cases of swine flu come to light

Swine flu death toll in the current year stands at 114, the second highest in the country after Rajasthan, while total number of cases this year rose to 3,830.

Continuing the downward trend of the past few days, swine flu cases declined to 67 on Saturday, the lowest in a day in the past few weeks. As against 100 or more on a daily basis for several days, 74 swine flu cases were reported on Friday and 78 the day before that. With temperature rising, officials expect cases to decline.

The state health department said in a release that 19 of the new cases came to light in Surat city, and nine in Ahmedabad city. Ahmedabad has been the worst-hit by swine flu with close to 1,200 cases this season. "One swine flu patient succumbed to H1N1 virus," the release said.

According to officials, seven swine flu cases were confirmed in Banaskantha. Six cases were reported in Sabarkantha today. Mehsana and Rajkot.
