A marginal drop in overall pass percentage was recorded as compared to last year
A total of 67.5% students have cleared the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) exams, the results of which were declared on Monday.
A marginal drop in overall pass percentage was recorded as compared to last year. With 37.35%, Dahod district recorded the lowest pass percentage, while Surat retained its top spot, with 80.06% pass percentage.
Like the class 12 state board results, the number of schools with 100% results has declined. As against last year, when 451 schools recorded 100% results, the number has dropped to 368 this year. With 72.69%, girls outshined boys this year, too; 63.73% boys cleared the exam.
The result this year was nearly 0.74% less as compared to 2017. However, the number of students scoring over 90% marks has almost doubled. This year 6,378 students got A1 grade, while the number was 3,750 in 2017. The pass percentage of Gujarati medium schools was the lowest, with 65.16% as against 90.12% of English medium schools.
The SSC and HSC exams had begun on March 12. While the SSC examination continued till March 23, for Science and General stream HSC, the exams continued till March 28. Approximately, 17 to 18 lakh students appeared for board exams this year, including 10 lakh for SSC, 5.5 lakh for general stream and nearly 1.5 lakh for Science stream.
