3.5 year old rape case: Surat Police look for absconding tenant

The Surat Police are on the lookout for a suspect identified as Anil Yadav, a resident of the ground floor of the building in which a 3.5 year old girl was killed. Autopsy had revealed that the girl had been raped before being killed. The body of the child had been found on Monday from a locked house in the same building where she lived in Godadra area. The house belonged to one Pande, the owner of the building who lived on the third floor. Pande had rented it out to his distant relative identified as one Rahul and his friend Anil Yadav. Sources said Rahul had gone back to his native place almost a month ago.

Sources in the know said that Yadav had initially also helped in the search for the girl when she first went missing on Saturday. After CCTV footage revealed that the girl had not left the building, cops began to check every house in the building. They found her in the ground floor locked room shared by YAdav and Rahul. The suspect used to work as painter taking up odd jobs.

Sources said cops have also alerted their counterparts in Bihar to keep an eye on him in case he visits his home.
