While the rest 2553 challans were generated by e-challan in which a total of Rs19.63lakh fine was collected.

The traffic cops have been ordered to go little easy on offenders, rather than issuing several challans they are told to maintain the traffic flow in the city and to create awareness among the people who are not following traffic rules.

On Monday and Tuesday, the cops didn’t find the offenders, who were driving on the wrong side and most of the people were let go by cops after giving a warning. The traffic fine for wrong side driving is Rs1500 for two-wheelers and Rs3000 for four-wheelers as per the new fine rates.

“Rather than recovering huge fines, we are trying to make sure that the violators don’t repeat their act. This will reduce the number of people violating the traffic rules and we will have a better traffic flow. Even if then people are not following the rules, we will take strict action.” Said Akash Patel, ACP Traffic

On the second day, 609 challans were issued for not wearing helmets 451 challans for no parking zone, 322 challans for not wearing seatbelts, 303 challans for triple seat and 60challans to people driving without licenses.
