A 29-year-old man from Surat was nabbed by the police for allegedly posting child pornography pictures and videos on international WhatsApp groups. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Younis Fani, a resident of Surat.
Primary investigation revealed that the accused was allegedly not involved in child porn but was involved in circulating the videos and pictures to others through social media. During the investigation, police learnt that around eight groups were active on his phone, in which he used to actively upload the child porn.
The CID officers have lodged a case under IPC Section 292 and 67(B) in the matter with the Surat Zone police station on Wednesday after they got an input from the Interpol regarding the activity on two international Whatsapp groups identified as ‘BREIKES’ and ‘TIENES’.
DIG CID (crime) Dipankar Trivedi said, “Acting on the inputs, we traced down the location of the accused. He was nabbed from Surat. Our primary investigations have revealed that he was only sharing the videos and pictures on social media, but is not involved in it.”
