26 new cases of Swine flu in Ahmedabad, highest for September

The city on Tuesday recorded 26 new cases of Swine Flu, the highest to be recorded for a day in 2018. All the cases were recorded within the Ahmedabad Corporation limits. With this, the total number of swine flu cases within AMC limits has touched 348 for this month alone while the number of deaths since the beginning of September 1 is 11.

Apart from cases within the AMC limits, Ahmedabad district has seen 22 cases and zero death since the beginning of September. In all, the state has seen 787 cases and 21 deaths of which the highest deaths have been recorded in Ahmedabad corporation limits.

Apart from AMC, eight new cases were reported from Surat Corporations limits while Vadodara and Gandhinagar saw five and four new cases respectively. Within the corporation limits, Surat recorded second highest number of swine flu cases at 62 although no deaths have been reported from there's in September. Vadodara and, Rajkot and Bhavnagar corporations limits have seen 39, 15, and 13 cases so far but no deaths. In all 67 cases of swine flu were recorded across the state while no death was reported on Tuesday. So far the state has seen 21 deaths since September due to swine flu.

Of the total cases that have been recorded so far, 309 patients are still under treatment while 457 have already been discharged.

Swine flu cases have seen a surge in Gujarat since the beginning of September. Differences in number of cases and deaths being reported at het local and state level are also cropping up with the state administration stating that the difference is because local authorities declare a suspected case of swine flu death while the state declares a swine flu death only after it is confirmed by a committee of experts.
