Eight directors of various colleges met Gade and demanded Kamble’s resignation over his alleged behaviour towards students, including sending lewd messages to girls. They said, “Such incidents tarnish the reputation of varsity’s physical education department and affects its functioning.

Even students are not attending classes for past one week.”Meanwhile, the members of the scheduled caste (SC) committee of state council that met the varsity officials on Thursday refused to comment on the issue.

A varsity official said that the panel discussed whether the university has cleared the appointment backlog, abide by the reservation norms and has any scheduled caste staffer reported any case of injustice. A panel member said, “It was a scheduled meeting.” The students are boycotting classes in protest against Kamble allegedly threatening another faculty member Vishnu Petkar.
