For most students, choosing the right career is a huge decision-making challenge. Guidance, counselling and exposure to relevant career options are some of the essential elements that play a key role in this process. To give students a peek into college life and coursework, the Indian School of Design and Innovation (ISDI) organised a Career Day on November 26 in Mumbai. The fair provided an appropriate platform for students to gain hands-on experience through workshops on draping and designing clothes, product design, 3D printing and handling different machines. According to Prasad Joshi, a third year Product Design student, "The faculty, the infrastructure and the practical approach in teaching are some of the best things about the school. ISDI through their collaboration also provides students a chance to study at Parsons School of Design in New York."The Indian School of Management and Entrepreneurship (ISME), which was also present at the fair has a similar teaching philosophy — to combine practicality and fun learning methods rather than the conventional form. They conducted a workshop to teach tough Maths concepts using games like Jenga, taxation policies using Finopoly (modified version of Monopoly) and other light hearted games, a policy that they also follow in their regular teaching schedule. According to Nishant, first year Business Management and Entrepreneurship student, "The international visiting faculty and the exposure to entrepreneurship will help fulfil my dream of starting a food tour travelling business".The fair also emphasised on learning incorporating fun elements such as organising a flash mob and a band performance. Indu Shahani, President of ISDI, ISME & ISDI WPP, Founding Dean of ISME, believes in a liberal and multi-disciplinary system of education. "We want to make education an experience, an edutainment," she emphasises.
