Educational institutes tie up with coaching centres to help students save time.
You needn’t have to rush for IIT-JEE coaching after your classes at your school or college.
Educational institutes are collaborating with coaching classes to give students IIT-JEE training on the campus.
As board marks too are counted for engineering and IIT admissions under the reformed JEE, one has to study hard for both. Realising this, schools are tying up with coaching institutes to give students the facility on the campus.
“Since we initiated the integrated approach of coaching where board and IIT preparations are done together, we have been approaching schools and colleges. An interesting development in the trend is that many schools and junior colleges across the country are approaching us to collaborate with them,” said Praveen Tyagi, managing director of the IITian’s PACE, a coaching institute for IIT-JEE.
PACE has already collaborated with 16 schools/junior colleges and there are more such collaborations lined up.
Resonance, another coaching institute for IIT-JEE preparation, has such collaborations with some junior colleges across the city. “The tie-ups provide a smooth process of preparing for both the important exams,” said Lokesh Khadelwal, executive director, Resonance. “But it is also important that students are not put into any confusion in terms of preparation such as difference in methodology in teaching or solving sums.”
The coaching institute has been approached by schools but it is yet to decide on this.
At KC College, Churchgate, the timetable is mutually decided by college and the coaching class. “The training is helpful because students get to attend all lectures because they don’t have to shuttle between college and coaching classes,” said Manju Nichani, principal of KC College.
RN Podar School, Santa Cruz, approached PACE to give an integrated training where students can prepare for boards and IIT simultaneously.
“Now, students can prepare for boards and IIT together under one roof. The basic idea is to avoid any kind of redundant teaching and it is showing good results,” said Avneeta Bir, principal of RN Podar School.
Matunga’s DG Ruparel College students too now have more time to study. “We have not exactly collaborated to divide responsibilities, but it is more about students’ convenience,” said Tushar Desai, principal of the college.
