Before becoming popular as Bapu or Morari Bapu, Moraridas Prabhudas Hariyani was a school teacher in J Parekh High School of Mahuva in Bhavnagar district. He taught there for more than a decade. But Bapu, apart from being a teacher, was also a student of Tulsidas Goswami’s ‘Ramcharit Manas’. While earlier he was teaching a class of school students, now through the medium of his Ram Katha he is teaching values to the masses.

In his class today, where he talks about philosophy of ‘Ramcharit Manas’, his students are from all sections of  society, age groups and different parts of the world. Reciting ‘Ramcharit Manas’ in over 700 kathas and speaking of its philosophy, Bapu has taught lessons of universal peace, truth, love and compassion to millions of people. His personality as a teacher has inculcated values in society.

Bapu dips into many cultures and literatures making his style of delivering Ram Katha unique. This has attracted people from different religious faiths. He sings Hindi movie songs, recites couplets from Urdu, Hindi and Gujarati literature and gives them a new philosophical meaning. Like a teacher, he is keeping the interest of society alive in literature and fine arts. He is also nurturing arts and literature by awarding outstanding litterateurs, painters and vocal, instrumental and folk music artists. Bapu is presently in New Jersey for ‘Chaalo Gujarat’ function.
