I am in class XII (Science), could you please suggest some good scholarships that will help me secure financial aid for overseas study? Also are there any exams to qualify for the scholarship? —Nishit ShettyScholarship is different from financial aid and is purely merit based. A majority of the US schools offer need based financial aid, that is dependent on the applicant's demonstrated financial need. The applicant's academic performance is strongly considered while making a decision. Financial aid can be in the form of a grant, loan or an on-campus job. The School treats such applications separate from regular applications. A few schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Amherst and Swarthmore offer need-blind aid which provides financial aid to students after admission into the programme and is independent of the applicant's financial need. For scholarships, the criteria include high school GPA, course rigor, class rank and SAT/ACT scores. There is no exam for scholarships or financial aid, however you might need to submit an additional essay. Colleges in the UK do not offer international students any financial aid.I want to know about the opportunities for postgraduate and post doctoral programmes in foreign universities especially in the UK? —Ashish MuttepawarThe post-graduate and post-doctoral programmes will have varying requirements based on the course you would like to apply for. Many of the programmes may require you to take the GRE (in some cases maybe the GMAT) and all programmes will require you to take the TOEFL or IELTS. For post-graduate programmes you can consider US, Canada, UK, Australia. For post-doctoral courses US and Canada would be good options as they provide students with funding.I have completed my BCom and want to pursue a MA degree in social science (International relations) either from University of Sydney, Auckland or British Columbia. Will you please provide me with the necessary information on the academic intake for this programme, scholarship and exams to appear for? —Sonu Bhasi In terms of a Master's in international relations, most of these programmes will require transcripts and recommendation letters. If you intend on doing a Phd you will have to take the GREs and TOEFL. For Australian universities, you will have two intakes- one in March and one in July.
