Alright folks, the game at Ahmedabad tomorrow will give us the team that will take on Pakistan at Mohali in the 2nd semi final. Do join us for the live coverage of Dhoni's India vs Ponting's Australia. This is Ajith signing off on behalf of Sid V and Srivathsa. Before we wrap it up, don't forget to keep your frown upside down.
Hafeez: I thank God and the people back home. I have been working hard over the last couple of weeks and it has worked for me. The plan was made a couple of days ago, I also bowled with the new ball in the nets and I tried to bowl as straight as possible. The form has come in the right time and I would look to continue my batting performance. We made things very simple, not thinking far ahead, and that's the key for our success. We will again take it, one game at a time.
Hafeez is the Man of the Match for taking 2 wickets and for scoring a fifty.
Afridi: This has been a great performance, it is the best gift that I can give to the fans back home and to those who have travelled all the way. Each game, we make plans against the opposition and we stuck to our plans like always. The openers played really well today and took us home. I am trying my best to stick to a proper line and length. These were proper conditions for a spinner. I had promised the fans that we can make it to the semi-finals and we should take it game by game. Every team will come harder and we need to make plans for the next game. Against Australia, we tried Rehman and today we wanted to try Hafeez.
Sammy: Not enough runs on board, that wasn't the total we were looking for when we started the game. We have been losing wickets in clusters throughout the tournament, particularly against the spinners. We look at our squad, there are number of youngsters below the age of 27. So, there are a few youngsters who will be there for the next World Cup and there is a lot to learn from this experience. Bishoo has been doing well in Guyana, he played well here too and that's another bright spot. Pakistan are beatable, we didn't play with full potential today.
Gul: We were expecting that we will put in a good show. The guys were confident before this and we put up a good show. I am enjoying bowling with the new ball and I am putting in a lot of hard work with Waqar and Aaqib Javed. In the NZ tour, Waqar told me that he wants to see me with the new ball in this World Cup. I am just trying to hit the pitch hard and I am maintaining the pace.
Pakistan were the favorites going into this game but nobody would have thought that they would make such a feast out of this game. The only thing that went wrong for them was the toss, Sammy was clearly happy when he opted to bat first and that didn't last long. Gayle fell and the rest of the Windies batsmen followed him to the hut. Credit to Afridi for leading from the front, and with 21 wickets he is the highest wicket taker in the tournament thus far. Chanderpaul batted with the tail and helped them crawl past 100. But 112 never looked nowhere near to a daunting ask for the Pakistanis, who are known to be aggressive batsmen.
Their openers came out with a clear mind, took the attack to the bowlers and forced Sammy to remove the close in catchers as they raced away to 85 runs in just 15 overs. Hafeez hadn't fired in this World Cup and if there was someone who needed some match practice, it was him. This massive 10 wicket win would give them an added confidence as they go to Mohali to face the winner of the game between India and Australia that's scheduled tomorrow. Alright folks, we have got our first of the four semi-finalists. Don't go away, the presentation is just round the corner.
20.5 Roach to Kamran Akmal, FOUR!!, Pakistan are through to the semi-finals.Mark Nicholas sums it up beautifully: A devastating performance from Pakistan and one of the great World Cup wins of all time. As Kamran Akmal has done all evening, he stands tall and crashes into the gap past cover, it races away, Kamran Akmal and Hafeez hug each other and all the beautiful Bongs in the crowd who are supporting Pakistan clear their throats. Revenge for that game they lost against West Indies? Eh? Whatever it is, only one team arrived here and they will now travel to India (Mohali) for the first time in this World Cup to face the winner of India v Australia tomorrow in the semis.
20.4 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, sharp bouncer, Kamran Akmal spots that well, ducks under it comfortably, lets it go
20.3 Roach to Hafeez, 1 run, stands tall and guides this down to third man, brings Kamran Akmal on strike
20.2 Roach to Kamran Akmal, 1 run, a short arm pull down to fine leg, more controlled this time
20.1 Roach to Hafeez, 1 run, Hafeez does a Kamran Akmal now, does not grin from ear to ear as his partner did, but has a wry smile on his face after his top edged hook fell short, way short of Rampaul at fine leg, Roach clearly is giving it his best even as his side are a hit away from going home
end of over
19.6 Rampaul to Kamran Akmal, FOUR!!, Kamran Akmal is clearly chuffed after playing that shot, a short arm jabbed pull, got inside the line of that leg stumpish delivery and pulled it away in style, deep fine leg had no chance, Kamran Akmal grins from ear to ear, showing all his teeth which are shining under the Mirpur flood-lights
19.5 Rampaul to Kamran Akmal, no run, tucked to mid wicket, Rampaul is tucking up Kamran Akmal with those in-dippers
19.4 Rampaul to Kamran Akmal, no run, nice free flowing drive, full face of the bat, but more importantly it is not in the gap, finds mid off
19.3 Rampaul to Kamran Akmal, no run, defence from Kamran Akmal as he blocks a short of length delivery on middle from the crease
19.2 Rampaul to Hafeez, 3 runs, too easy for Hafeez now, brings up the 100 run stand with a clip off the pads, they have done it emphatically so far, both Hafeez and Kamran Akmal have a congratulatory message to say to each other as they show more glove love
19.1 Rampaul to Hafeez, no run, good length and seaming back in towards off stump, Hafeez comes on the frontfoot and defends
end of over
18.6 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, back of a length delivery outside off, Kamran Akmal goes on top of the bounce and slaps it to Darren Bravo at point
18.5 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, Roach is letting it rip, a pacy bouncer, down leg, Kamran Akmal swivelled to pull, the bottom edge takes it on the bounce to Thomas, Roach is hurrying Kamran Akmal into some injudicious strokes late in this chase
18.4 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, that has pinged Kamran Akmal on the elbow, he was early on the pull, it was the slower bouncer, Sammy likes it, Kamran Akmal is in pain, but he isn't going anywhere, he wants to be there when they win this
18.3 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, fuller length delivery on off stump, crisply driven off the front-foot to mid off, straight to the fielder
18.2 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, good short delivery, rising from a back of a length area, Kamran Akmal is caught in an awkward position and in the end does well not to fend at it, the ball drops dead to cover, no harm done in the end
18.1 Roach to Kamran Akmal, FOUR!!, a top edged pull, the pacy short of length delivery caught Kamran Akmal by surprise, but the extra pace of Roach meant that it took the top edge and went over the keeper's head, a boundary to Kamran Akmal and Pakistan need just 14 more

Time for Drinks. Meanwhile, here Realtime Thiru has joined me. He is bracing up for the big one tomorrow - India v Australia. The first quarter-final has been a big let-down. Only one side have turned up both physically and mentally for this game. Pakistan have absolutely devastated the Windies with a brilliant performance. Realtime's prediction for tomorrow: A Sachin ton, his 100th international ton and a victory for the Indians. He says that India will chase and win against Australia. We will see whether his prediction comes true. Meanwhile, we have the small matter of finishing this game off. The players are back on the field and we are all set to continue.
17.6 Rampaul to Hafeez, no run, once again Hafeez wants to pierce it through the mid wicket region, can't find the gap, worked straight to the fielder
17.5 Rampaul to Hafeez, no run, the in-swinger and Hafeez works it to leg
17.4 Rampaul to Hafeez, no run, fuller length delivery on off stump, Hafeez gets forward and defends
17.3 Rampaul to Hafeez, no run, in the corridor of uncertainty, hint of seam movement, left alone
17.2 Rampaul to Hafeez, FOUR!!, Gosh!, that is an even better shot, Hafeez is timing them crisply and sweetly, this time to the right of sweeper cover, gorgeous cover drive again, length ball outside off, no swing or seam movement, all Hafeez had to do do was to time and place it well, which he did magnificently well, back to back boundaries for Hafeez
17.1 Rampaul to Hafeez, FOUR!!, 8th ODIFIFTY!! and his first in the World Cups, what a wonderful cover drive to get it too, not a half volley by any means, Hafeez leant forward and just pushed it, Pollard gave chase, tried the slide and pull it back technique, could not do so, again for some strange reason he has a huge smile on his face, Rampaul isn't impressed and nods at mid off to point out what Pollard did
end of over
16.6 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, Roach attempted the yorker, it curved in towards leg stump, Kamran Akmal cleared his front toe out of the way and drove it to mid wicket, straight to the fielder
16.5 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, short of length delivery on middle, Kamran Akmal stands tall and meets it at the top of the bounce, punched back to Roach
16.4 Roach to Hafeez, 1 run, punched wide of cover, mid off is deep and cannot prevent the single
16.3 Roach to Hafeez, no run, fuller length delivery on off, Hafeez presented the full face, it went quickly back to Roach, who bent down and stopped it on his follow-through
16.2 Roach to Kamran Akmal, 1 run, turned past mid wicket for an easy single, Kamran Akmal gives Hafeez the strike
16.1 Roach to Kamran Akmal, no run, short of length delivery on middle, Kamran Akmal hangs back and defends
end of over
Kemar Roach [3.0-0-26-0] is back into the attack
It's too much to ask from Roach, but even a double hat-trick will make it tough for his side to win from here. Anyway here he comes back for the last spell of his first World Cup. He has been mighty impressive though in this tournament.
