US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took the stage on the last day of the Democratic National Convention on Friday (IST) to officially accept her nomination as the party's Presidential nominee.
In the biggest speech of her career, Clinton reiterated her campaign's policies, her willingness to work with Bernie Sanders and exhorted voters to join her campaign. She attacked Republican nominee Donald Trump, calling out his bigotry, his lack of respect for voters and his controversial stands on minorities, gun control, minimum wage and immigration.
Clinton's turn in the spotlight came after three days of electrifying appearances by President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and first lady Michelle Obama, all party heavyweights who praised Clinton and cautioned that Trump would be dangerous and divisive.
Clinton, 68, is known to be a more effective politician in small gatherings than on big stages. At the DNC, she spoke to rousing applause from the audience and frequent chants of 'Hillary, Hillary'.
Clinton is the first woman to be nominated by a major party as nominee for the presidential election and is vying to be the first woman elected president in the US.
