On the occasion of World Environment Day 2016, on Sunday, the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) shared a video encapsulating the message of the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon.

Ban Ki-moon spoke of how drastically we are losing various species of animals to poaching and trade of illegal animal parts. He urged nations to work towards eradication of wildlife trade considering its relation to illegal arms dealing, money laundering, human trafficking, just to name a few.

In May, the UN had released the World Wildlife Crime Report, a global assessment of crime against wildlife. The report also spoke of ways to spot in which illegally acquired flora and fauna can be easily hidden in plain sight and our responsibility towards tackling it.
