Watch: Here's how the new UK government responded to the crises in Turkey and France

The newly-formed British government under the leadership of PM Theresa May, which is still reeling under the impact of Brexit, has also had to respond to the developments in France and Turkey this week.

Raising concerns over the attempted coup in Turkey, Foreign Minister Boris Johnson said that he has spoken to his Turkish counterpart and "urged calm and avoidance of any further bloodshed", WION correspondent Giles Gibson reported.

A faction of the Turkish military attempted a coup to oust the incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan late on Friday night.  Though the coup failed, it left at least 161 dead and over 1000 injured.

Earlier in the week on July 14, a man drove a 19-tonne truck at high speed into crowds in Nice, as a fireworks show to mark France's Bastille Day was underway, killing at least 84 people and injuring more than 200.
