Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said the country has devised new rules for future engagement with the United States.

Gilani said the US must assure Pakistan that it would not violate its sovereignty by carrying out the Abbottabad-type operation in future and added that Washington should share credible information with Islamabad.

Gilani called for halting US drone attacks because they impeded the Pakistan Government’s efforts to isolate the terrorists from the local population, The Daily Times reports.

He said Pakistan aims to foresee a sovereign, independent, prosperous and stable Afghanistan, adding that Pakistan was part of the solution rather than a part of the problem.

Gilani said Pakistan has suffered a serious setback to its peace efforts due to former Afghan president Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani’s assassination.

He said Pakistan and Afghanistan aimed at increasing bilateral trade to 45 billion dollars by 2015.

He added that Islamabad would carry out reconstruction work in Afghanistan to ensure economic development.
