Moroni: A 14-year-old girl was rescued alive in the sea amid debris of the Yemeni Airbus jet. Bahia Bakari clung to debris, barely able to swim, after being thrown from the Yemeni jet, officials said on Wednesday hailing the only survivor from the disaster.
Bahia's father, Kassim Bakari, said that his daughter was ejected from the plane as it hit the sea. "She didn't feel a thing. She found herself in water," Bakari said.
"She could hear people talking, but in the middle of the night she couldn't see a thing," a Comoran government spokesman said.
One rescuer told France's Europe 1 radio that Bahia was spotted floating in the middle of bodies two hours after the crash. "We tried to throw a life buoy. She could not grab it. I had to jump in the water to get her," the rescuer said. Bahia's dad said she suffered burns but had no serious injuries.
