Taliban reveals Malala's killing 'was plotted like mob hit weeks before shooting her'

A Taliban spokesman has revealed that the shooting of 14-year-old Pakistani rights activist Malala Yousufzai was plotted like a mob hit for weeks before a would-be killer pumped a bullet in her head.

Taliban spokesperson Sirajuddin Ahmad said that a team of shooters spent two months studying the daily route taken to school by the teenager before shooting and wounding her.

According to the New York Daily News, Ahmad said the decision to shoot the helpless teen was finalized after she ignored three warnings to stop promoting education for girls.

The last warning was delivered one week before the murder attempt, the report said.

Meanwhile, Pakistani police have reportedly arrested a number of suspects in the shooting case.

Malala, who earned international fame for raising her voice against Taliban oppression, was shot in the neck and head and two other girls sustained injuries when the Tehrik-i- Taliban Pakistan (TTP) opened fire on their school van in Swat valley last week.

Malala, a National Peace award winner, became the voice of all the girls in Swat when she began maintaining a diary on the website of the BBC under the pen name of "Gul Makai".
