The hearing of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the Pakistani-Canadian terror suspect accused of involvement in the Mumbai attacks, was cancelled today though his trial is set for February next year.

"The hearing was indeed cancelled," Kim Nerheim, spokesperson for the US attorney's office told PTI.

"No alternate date has been set for another hearing," she added.

The reason for the hearing being cancelled is not immediately known.

Rana's trial day that is set for Valentine's Day next year remains on track and numerous closed hearings related to Classified Information Procedures Act are taking place that are not open to public or to journalists.

The trial will be held before US district court judge Harry D Leinenweber.

While Headley has pled guilty to the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, Rana, a Chicago businessman, has not pled guilty.

Rana was indicted by a federal grand jury on Feb 15 this year.

Rana, 49, was accused along with LeT operative Pakistani-American David Headley in a 12-count superseding indictment for plotting the 26/11 attacks and providing material support to LeT to carry out the attack that killed 166 people, including six Americans.

Rana is also accused for plotting an attack on Jyllands-Posten, a Danish newspaper, which published controversial cartoons of prophet Muhammad.
