Quake hits Pakistan

The quake, which occurred at 5.00 pm, had its epicentre somewhere in the rugged mountains of Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area, 300 km from Gilgit-Baltistan, said Pakistan's meteorology department.

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit various parts of Pakistan Sunday, including most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwestern tribal region, and Punjab, Geo News reported.

The quake, which occurred at 5.00 pm, had its epicentre somewhere in the rugged mountains of Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area, 300 km from Gilgit-Baltistan, said Pakistan's meteorology department.

The quake caused panic among people. But no loss of life or damage to property was reported.

The tremors were also felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Chiniot, Mirpur, the Pakistan administered Kashmir, Hangu, Battagram, Rawalakot, Balakot, Khyber Agency, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Mardan, Lower Dir, North Waziristan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swat and Hazara division.
