A one-legged Malaysian going by the name of Junaidi Fauzan, hopes to scale the country’s highest mountain - Mount Kinabalu, in Sabah, this year.

The 58-year-old retiree wants to do this after he completes his kayak trip from here to Kota Kinabalu, reports The Star.

“I plan to kayak from the western tip of Sarawak, Tanjung Datu, to Kota Kinabalu in July. So, I thought while I’m in Kota Kinabalu, I might as well climb Mount Kinabalu,” Fauzan said.

“I’ve sent a proposal to Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi to help me seek approval from the authorities. I hope everything will go well,” he told The Star when met at his village, Kampung Santubong, 35km from Kuching (Malaysia).
