At least one policeman was killed as two successive suicide blasts targeted a police station in the Russian Republic of Ingushetia, bordering the restive Chechnya in North Caucasus today.

The blasts occurred in front of a police station in the morning in the Ingush town of Karabulak.

One policeman was killed and three persons were wounded in the first blast while details of the second explosion are not yet known, Interfax reported quoting officials of the Interior Ministry of Ingushetia.

The fresh suicide attack took place exactly a week after last Monday's twin attack on Moscow metro stations in which 40 people were killed and about 100 were injured.

A predominantly Muslim region of Russia's North Caucasus, the poverty-stricken Ingushetia has been troubled in recent years by a violent insurgency.
