Thousands of Maoists, shouting anti-government slogans, picketed the Kathmandu District Administration (DA) Office, Babarmahal, Lalitpur DA Office, Manbhawan, and Bhaktapur DA Office and prevented the government staff from entering.

Similar protests were also organised in other districts across the country. Maoists are building up momentum for their November 10 rally when they have threatened a total shutdown in Nepal.

The Maoists are protesting against president Ram Baran Yadav's decision to overturn the sacking of former Army chief Rukmangad Katawal, which led to collapse of the Maoist government.

Nepalese police and security personnel were out in strength to prevent any violence and maintain law and order.

The protest remained peaceful and there were no incidents of violence or clashes.
