Joe Bidden's daughter slams 'birther' Donald Trump over Obama comments

United States vice-president Joe Bidden's daughter Ashley has slammed billionaire businessman Donald Trump for questioning President Barack Obama on his place of birth.

Ashley posted some choice words on her Facebook page for the real estate giant on Thursday, saying "Donald Trump makes me ill.... bring it on!"

Roughly a dozen people had "liked" the post by early evening and posted their comments to it, also trashing Trump. Ashley added to her own initial post, "This discussion or debate over whether or not President Obama has an American birth certificate is just so insulting," she said.

"Boycotting the Apprentice!" she added later.

Ashley's Facebook rebuke came after another day of Trump dominating cable news shows with talks about President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

Only "natural born citizens" are eligible to be president under the US Constitution.

Trump reiterated his claims on the Today Show, Politico reports.

Trump's theory that Obama wasn't born in America, along with his more recent claims that he has investigators poking around in Hawaii, have hyped the "birther" debate into mainstream media in a big way.

Obama has long since released a "certification of live birth" showing he was born in Hawaii. There were also two birth announcements within a few days of his birth in the Hawaiian newspapers.
 
The so-called "birthers", who question whether Obama was born in the US, insist that since he hasn't produced a certified birth certificate, he is trying to conceal something.
